For the third time this month, a Coast Guard helicopter has retrieved a medical patient off the Bering Sea processing ship Ocean Phoenix.
Tuesday's medevac involved a crewman, described as 25 to 30 years old, with a "severe injury to his left hand," the Coast Guard said.
The 680-foot Ocean Phoenix was 85 miles northwest of Cold Bay.

She's a big ship-230+ crew. My hats off to the current medic. It's not easy managing patients in the middle of the Bering Sea. I was medic on her from 89-96. A huge Thank you to all crew of USCG medivacs! Your money's no good in any bar or restaurant that I'm in. Semper Paratus!
Mike I remember you from trip on the Ocean Phoenix in 93. You were a great medic and guy. I appreciate the times you patched me up.
