Adak processing gear to go on sale block

You'll recall how Icicle Seafoods Inc. in April said it was closing its processing operation on far-flung Adak Island.

Now a liquidator is planning to auction processing equipment from the plant.

Here's a notice of the sale, and here are the auction details.

Deckboss first heard about this from seafoodnews.com.

Kaltag will probably buy the used stuff. Mr. Parnell gave them half a million to build a processing plant there.

Seems like Icicle having a lot of trouble lately. Dennis axed, Adak out, and now Dillingham not able to run herring. What will be next?

It would be interesting to find out who is selling the equipment.

I can think of about three entities who could claim ownership.

This is the kiss of death to hopes for Adak's fisheries to succeed near-term. The Aleut Corp has finally killed the goose that lays the golden eggs.
Profiteering won over nurturing the economy.
