Fishery ecolabels are nothing more than a money grab. The labels work with the dirtiest fisheries to get a stamp of approval.

The Marine Stewardship Council is weighing in, noting the following:

"As the first US fishery to achieve MSC certification and the third globally, Alaska salmon has a near 25-year proven track record of meeting the MSC fisheries standard.

"The fishery's MSC certificate remains valid, and landings can be sold with the MSC blue label. Fishery certificates are good for five years, with the current certificate expiring November 11, 2024."
