Bummer forecast for Southeast Chinook

The Department of Fish and Game has released its 2013 Chinook salmon forecast for the Stikine and Taku rivers in Southeast Alaska, and the news isn't good.

The projected run size is not large enough to allow a fishery at either river in early May, the department says.

Comparing trollers to trawlers is like comparing snaggers to fly fishermen. Trolling is a small boat fishery producing the highest quality, best handled salmon in the world from a highly regulated and scrutinized fishery where every fish, particularly Chinook, are counted and analyzed by scores of managers and analysts.
Trawlers on the other hand are fishing with relatively unrestricted gear for high volumes of relatively poor quality, low value groundfish. Their "by-catch" of Chinook is estimated by partial observer coverage, the mystery of the resulting "imaginary" numbers only exceeded by the wonder of sport fish self-reported numbers.

fuck the faggot trollers, there all a bunch of liberal faggots thet would like to see the rest of the commercial fishing fleet disapear. while the rest of look at whats wrong and try to find ways to fix the problem the troll fleet continues to say there not the problem and its everyone else problem, even though there the biggest usergroup of kings in southeast they seem to think its up to everyone else and not them to make sacrafices to keep the resource alive

i guess the seiners are the biggest user group of humpys and they don't have to make sacrafices.trollers have been doing nothing but making scrafices for the past 30 years fool!but wait a minute i hear the new light weight seines have built in escape panels for king salmon, the wonders of salmon management!i hear the trawl and drag nets from canada to the bearing sea have these escape panels too!!!!maybe?just maybe parnel's new king salmon panels will discover the effectiveness of these escape panels and apply them to the gill nett fleet in lyn canal tooo!!!what a f%%%king joke!

What about the under reporting of the charter sector. They report how many king salmon caught using an honor system. give me a break you should see in Sitka all of the fish boxes that leave everyday with charter clients. Not to mention the home pack and king salmon used to barter. Amazing once we put restrictions on their halibut fishing and now guess what the stocks are rebuilding.
