Four reported safe after seiner capsizes at Kodiak
From the Alaska State Troopers:
Location: Kodiak
Type: Rescue
On 7/22/23, at 12:50 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers became aware of a commercial seine vessel that had capsized in Whale Passage, with four people onboard. Troopers responded to the scene and contacted the four occupants of the vessel, as well as residents of a nearby lodge, who saw the vessel shortly after it capsized and were able to render aid. When the vessel capsized, the skipper was in the wheelhouse and the crew was in the main cabin. The crew estimated they were trapped for approximately three minutes before they were able to escape the inverted vessel. They were then able to get aboard their seine skiff, which had remained upright. They all declined medical attention and appeared to have received only minor cuts and bruises. Another fishing vessel volunteered to tow the seiner to shallow water, by a nearby beach, and secure it. The four crewmembers of the seiner were transported to Kodiak aboard the P/V Cama'i.

Two bodies recovered from F/V Miss Destinee
Here's a press release from the Alaska State Troopers:
Location: Marmot Bay
Type: Capsized vessel, death investigation
On 6/29/17, at 0854 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Kodiak received a report from the U.S. Coast Guard that they were on scene of a capsized fishing vessel in Marmot Bay. USCG reported that they had recovered two survivors in the water but two crewmembers were unaccounted for off the F/V Miss Destinee. Investigation revealed that while traveling through Marmot Bay en route to Kodiak the vessel was struck by a "rogue wave" on the port side causing it to lay over and eventually roll to the starboard side. The survivors were in the upper wheelhouse and were able to exit the vessel and cling to the skiff which had floated up off the deck of the boat. USCG had assumed case responsibility. On 7/4/17 at approximately 0745 hours, Kodiak AST was advised that the salvage company was able to right the F/V Miss Destinee and began dewatering procedures. The F/V Miss Destinee was towed to the Kodiak harbor. AST along with Kodiak City Fire and USCG Marine Safety Detachment responded to the vessel and located and recovered the remains of the missing crewmembers from inside the vessel. The state medical examiner's office requested that the remains of both victims be transported for autopsy. The two deceased are identified as Joshua Osborne, 18, and Abigail Osborne, 22, both of Wasilla. Next of kin was notified.

Four rescued after seiner capsizes near Valdez
A 40-foot purse seiner, the Auriga, capsized Monday near Valdez, the U.S. Coast Guard reports.
The four crewmen climbed aboard the Auriga's skiff and the good Samaritan vessel Cornelia Marie rescued them, the Coast Guard says.
The Auriga was fishing in the vicinity of Eaglek Bay when a storm approached from the southeast.
"The crew ceased fishing operations and prepared for the storm but a large wave reportedly caused the Auriga to capsize," the Coast Guard says. "The Auriga remains capsized and partially submerged in the vicinity of Unakwik Inlet."
The boat had about 18,000 pounds of fish aboard.
State records indicate the Auriga, a fiberglass Beck built in 1980, belongs to Thomas Lopez.

2 saved, 1 dead, 1 missing in Ugashik capsizing
The Alaska State Troopers posted this at 11 this morning:
Location: Pilot Point
Type: Search and rescue
On 6/22/14 at 0855 hours, Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Helo-3 and a helicopter from U.S. Coast Guard Kodiak responded to the Ugashik River near Pilot Point for a report of an overturned skiff with four occupants in the water. Preliminary investigation revealed four commercial fishermen were operating a skiff while fishing on the Ugashik River when the skiff capsized, throwing all four into the water. Winds in the area were estimated at 25 mph with stronger gusts; waves were estimated at 4 feet at the time the skiff overturned. Earnest Pierce, 47, of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., and Brandon Michael Park, 24, of West Richland, Wash., were able to climb on top of the overturned skiff until rescued by other fishing boats. An adult male and a 17-year-old juvenile attempted to swim to shore. The older male was later located in the water and was unresponsive. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Efforts by rescuers on scene to locate the missing juvenile were unsuccessful. None of the occupants of the skiff were wearing personal flotation devices at the time of the incident. AST is in the process of locating next of kin. Coast Guard search efforts have been suspended pending further information. Efforts by AST and AWT are continuing.
