Alaska commercial fishing news and notes
I just registered for the state water fishery at adf&g, why don't they mention this when you register? Maybe generating revenue?
Were losing valuable fishing grounds with this, and it already gets crowded. Thanks for informing us of the change ahead of time, not. Thought we had our gear situated, now we gotta move some. Why dont they inform permit holders about it. I'm a permit holder and the first I hear about it is on deck boss?!
Is this some kind of bad joke?
you have to wonder where is the trollers assoc. seiners assoc. gillnetters assoc, UFA, ARE THESE PEOPLE SO CLOSE TO THE FEDS THAT THEY CANT SEE ANYTHING WHERE ARE YOU BOBBY T THE GREAT FRIEND OF MURKOWSKI WHO WE HAD TO HAVE
Keep sending in your UFA Dues!Just another political action committee, like Austerman himself!"The State is taking an aggressive position with the Feds...""The State also took a agressive position with Austerman's Federal Confusion on a previous issue too!Vote Alan Austerman, Vote UFA Uneducated Fishermen of Alaska!
Definition of state waters: 0-3 miles offshore. State only has control of 0-3 nationwide I think. The definition didn't change just some maps that were drawn incorrectly are now drawn correctly. I do agree that there needs to be more communication on this. However if you want to fish outside three miles then get a federal permit and the proper licenses like the rest of us.
Thank you so much for letting us know about this serious situation. The Feds are bullying their way into our local fisheries and we need to stand up and take affirmative action towards their predetermined view on seizing gear and issuing tickets.Keep us in the loop on what will happen in the future. Our local community depends on it.
Regards to post before last, good luck fishing federal waters with your permit now, its closed. We have the permit for federal also, but we're now talking about STATE water fisheries. Any Cook Inlet drifters look into how this effects them in Cook Inlet? You cant salmon fish in federal waters. So whats behind this, oil and gas exploration? Trawlers?
ADFG staff in both Homer and Kodiak INTENTIONALLY were not advising their fleets of trhe new lines, egging themon to fish closed water, for their political motives. The Feds were the ones getting the word out early...
Yeah, kinda seems that way about ADF&G. Disagree about the Feds getting the word out early. Seems like a big secret was let out of the bag today.
