The North Pacific Fishery Management Council, meeting in Anchorage, today passed this brief but interesting motion.

The NPFMC, without warning, proposed a 32% cut statewide to sablefish last week…. One of their reasons was lack of survey funding…. I think this motion is an attempt to see where the survey money is going and what it will cost the fleet if a 32% cut passes
The NPFMC didn't propose anything. The stock assessment author did, and the SSC reviewed it, and the NPFMC hasn't even take it up yet. Regardless, it has to go back to the plan team for review and back to the SSC and Council again in November.
