The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that 135 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
Late January is the beginning of the four week period that yields the best blend of pollock roe recovery and roe grade. Every lost fishing day now pushes the harvest into a lower value time. Add to that the cost of processors held up in Anchorage, virus testing, medical personnel, and so forth. The result is going to be millions in lost profits for the processor and the fishing fleet.
