Fields, Long appointed to North Pacific Council

The Commerce Department has reappointed Duncan Fields, of Kodiak, to the North Pacific Fishery Management Council, and also has appointed newcomer David Long, of Wasilla.

Council members serve three-year terms.

Here's a news release on appointments to all the regional fishery management councils around the country.

Fields will continue to go along with the set agenda. Maybe there is hope for fairness and equal representation for the little people with Long. We'll see.

Fields fights for Alaska.

"...fights for Alaska." - in what way may I ask?

He is a personable guy; made me feel like he was really listening to me and my friends on how important the salmon is to the poor people of Western Alaska. I have to remember that he is but one guy on a board that is supporting the big pollock fishing industry.
