We have been fishing. an area since the early 1900s, before the dams were built, and all the people polluted all the rivers, Washington, Oregon, and California also, also, there are Sam, amount fisherman, fishing there since 1974, about 300 boats a year in the whole fleet it’s very small impact they cause their own problems now they’re trying to blame us
They admit in the statement that the lower 48 chinook return problems were self imposed, by framing the AK commercial catch as hindering the "recovery". The likelihood of ever recovering with or without AK commercial curtailment is almost zero, they have destroyed their rivers. Unlikely but with all the wacked out activists judges this lawsuit could end up going wrong way.
As noted in previous posts, the anti-trawl, anti-hatchery momentum will continue to evolve into an anti-commercial fishing approach. NGOs like WFC, salmonstate, ALFA, AMCC, and now the Tribes all depend on grant money and rage to keep their organizations afloat. ALFA and AMCC think they can control the damage but it's already uncontainable. Halibut is next.
Maybe Alaska should charge Washington and Oregon a fee for the baitfish these fish consume while in Alaska waters.
What a sad organization. WDFW funds them via grants, then they turn around and sue WDFW and Alaska with the taxpayer’s dollars. This is aside from the fact that very few of these fish are even wild.
Any single person who has been to Puget Sound or driven along the industrialized Columbia River knows what the issue is. But hey, it's easier to fund that cool remote job, collect grant paychecks, and blame someone else. NGOs are a cancer to science and fisheries management.
Pretty sure a little digging could put Marit or Olivia behind this letter showing up while they railroaded through ACR’s that didn’t meet Criteria funny Chignik sued the same day. Hope JKT wipes that board clean. What a disgrace fish management has become in Alaska.
ALFA and AMCC will be the death of the industry. Sure wish Linda’s minions would wake up and AMCC that first C is for community name one you’ve helped with your Ocean conservancy money!

Same funders as salmonstate.

The fish recovery industry is bigger than commercial fisheries, and it can be done from a comfort of a desk rather than the back deck.
