The Southeast Alaska commercial red and blue king crab fishery will open Nov. 1 with a modest quota of 211,573 pounds, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced.
This fishery has been closed for several years starting with the 2018-19 season.
SE gets one season after 6 closed years, and was only open sporadically before that, and you suggest a lack of trawlers is the reason for reopening?
Meanwhile, the Bering Sea has trawlers, and was closed for two seasons over the last how many decades? Both areas are still at low levels relative to historic.
Sorry, but your logic doesn’t check out. If anything, it would seem to support the opposite.
There are clearly other factors affecting these fisheries.

No draggers in Southeast. Coincidence?
Really 3:37?
