'Fluency in Czech and Slovak language preferred'

So, who works in Alaska's processing plants?

If you think it's Lower 48 college kids up for a summer salmon adventure, you'd best get with the times.

Just check out this ad for a production manager over in Cordova.

LOL Isn't that the truth!? Husband's processor ship this season has Ukrainian, Kazakstan, and I think Indian students working... besides the regular international crew. That's one of the reason he loves working there.

How sad with a national unemployment rate of 9.1% the processors are still hiring foreigners. I bet somebody in the lower 48 would take the job.

Having worked processing and management for 25 years, I can assure you the American workforce has not been present for a long time. Before the Europeans, it was and is Mexican and Filipino.

Are jobs not advertised for the processors in the lower 48 or have Americans thought of the jobs as akin to vegetable picking? Just curious.
Some of the hardest working people I have ever seen were employees of catcher processors and at the plants also.

Sounds like someone needs a green card or a visa sponsor.

@off2fish, the ad looks for multi lingual person. Doesn't say foreigner. But multi lingual talent is more difficult to find here in the U.S.

Americans don't want minimum wage labor jobs anymore. Welfare is easier.
