Aleut Fisheries and Western Star Seafoods, a subsidiary of Icicle Seafoods, finalize lease of Adak seafood processing facility
ANCHORAGE — Aleut Fisheries LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aleut Enterprise LLC, and Western Star Seafoods Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Icicle Seafoods Inc., one of the largest and most diversified seafood companies in Alaska, are pleased to announce they have finalized a long-term lease of the seafood processing facility in Adak, Alaska.
Icicle has personnel in Adak readying the plant to resume operations, with a goal of becoming fully operational in time for the 2012 Pacific cod season. Icicle expects the plant to be operating on a limited capacity by summer 2011.
Dennis Guhlke, president and CEO of Icicle, commented, "The facility in Adak provides us with both unique opportunities and challenges. We are excited by the prospect of it complementing our existing Icicle operations and providing further scale and diversification to our business. We look forward to the resumption of processing in Adak and the positive impact it will have on the local community and fishing fleet."
"We are happy to provide a leading seafood company such as Icicle with an opportunity to bring additional economic development to the Western Aleutian region and Adak in particular," said Sharon Lind, board chairman of the Aleut Corp., parent company of Aleut Enterprise. "We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship that will benefit not only Icicle Seafoods and Aleut Enterprise, but the community and the fishing sector that harvest in the area."

Good luck to all on this adventure. If this fails it's turn out the lights. The Aleut Corp is not the easiest organization to deal with. A completely top-down management system that does not encourage creativity may not support what Icicle's needs. Every manager in that outfit has the same CYA turf mentality.
Good Luck PFI!
Aleut Corp is perfect for Icicle's weird top-down management. This will be another good shell game for Icicle money. Maybe Ben Stevens can get involved again.
where's Solberg?!
Solberg? who cares?!
He's around. He has been on Icicle's secret payroll for years.
There have been more "partners" with that seafood plant in Adak than Elizabeth Taylor had husbands. Good luck to Icicle on this new "marriage." Who knows maybe this relationship will be the one that works out.
No Solberg= success
That operation will never succeed without massive government subsidies and special fish allocations. Get ready for the endless begging to ramp up to new and higher levels.
I am unaware of any federal subsidies specific to the Adak's seafood operations. If you are talking about subsidies for bypass mail or essential air service, many communities need those for survival.
The only special fish allocation I know of is the pollock allocation to the Aleut Corporation that goes unfished due to the sea lion regulations.
IS KJETIL THERE?
WHAT ABOUT THAT HIPPIE FRASER?
this industry without any drug testing, or cg licensing is in the toilet and will soon be spinning towards the bottom. those idiots in sitka are just one example. this adak thing is another, attacking the high power charterers another.
Icicles needs kjietil to survive just as they did in the past!! He mostly likely will be there but that's Icicles big secret..We all know he's still on the payroll
Kjietil solberg=Icicles
