Something happening in Homer?

Deckboss has asked the Alaska State Troopers for information regarding possibly a major fisheries enforcement action in Homer.

We hear unofficially that authorities yesterday searched multiple boats and maybe some houses. They were said to have seized some halibut.

We'll keep you advised as we learn more.

Two sunken boats raised, now moored in Homer

Two fishing vessels that sank in December in Jakolof Bay, south of Homer, have been refloated.

Crewmen from the fishing vessel Vigilant throw a life ring to two kayakers who were assisted to the vessel by a Coast Guard rescue swimmer from Air Station Kodiak. A Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter crew located the two men yesterday after a search near Gore Point about 40 miles southeast of Homer. The men were on a trip from Seward to Homer and had been kayaking for eight days. Weather worsened and they became tired and lost some gear, prompting them to use their emergency locator beacon and contact the Coast Guard.
