The Alaska State Troopers identified the missing man as Seth Whiteman, 23, of Eagle River.
U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders on Monday received a report of a man overboard from the F/V Sandman near Egegik Bay, Petty Officer 3rd Class Cameron Snell said.
A seven-hour search ensued involving the cutter Frederick Mann, a helicopter from Air Station Kodiak, the Alaska State Troopers patrol vessel Stimson and state aircraft.
The search was suspended late Monday pending development of new information.
The missing man reportedly was not wearing a life jacket, Snell said.
State records indicate the Sandman belongs to Isaac J. Thistle, of Wasilla.

How did he go overboard why is there no story about what happened precipitating the event?
Alaska State Troopers report that at about 6 p.m. on July 11, wildlife troopers recovered a body from a beach near Egegik. The remains were identified as Seth Whiteman, the man who went overboard on June 29.
Troopers now say the victim was 22 years old, not 23.
Agency spokesman Justin Freeman provided a few more details about the tragedy:
"The crew of the Sandman were not actively fishing at the time that Whiteman fell overboard. They had just finished fishing and were still on the fishing grounds in the Egegik District, but transiting the river channel near several sandbars, where the seas stacked up with the wind and tide combination present that day. "
