Alaska Democratic Congresswoman Mary Peltola, currently running for reelection, today introduced two bills to "restrict bottom trawling and reduce bycatch."
The Alaska Pollock Fishery Alliance issued this statement expressing
disappointment in one of the bills.

This is not a good thing for fisheries management. Their inability to make commonsense changes will result in politicians capitalizing on the issue.
It is surprising that this didn't happen early. Trawlers are an easy target to beat up on for political points, and NPFMC hasn't managed the situation at all.
