Gov. Dunleavy appoints four to Board of Fisheries

Here's the press release.

The governor's office also provided these additional notes:

There were four seats open on the Board of Fish, two from expiring terms and two from resignation (Al Cain and Orville Huntington). Israel Payton was reappointed, Gerad Godfrey replaces Robert Ruffner, Karl Johnstone replaces Al Cain, and Marit Carlson-Van Dort replaces Orville Huntington who is now taking a seat on the Board of Game. Johnstone and Carlson-Van Dort take their seats immediately, Godfrey takes his seat July 1, and Payton will continue to serve.

Great, Van Dort worked for Pebble Partnership, another Dunleavy shill appointed to further his agenda. Sickening.

Van Dort and Johnston are, of course, the KRSA selected appointees as KRSA leverages Bob Penney's money and influence with Dunleavy to load up for next winter's UCI meeting. Especially appalling is Johnston's appointment. He is probably easily one of the most disliked individuals to ever sit on the BOF, not to mention his only passing acquaintance with ethical behavior. On top of that, we get to fly him up from Arizona to attend the meetings. It's seems like we should be able to find an Alaskan at least, not a summer resident.

Walker had his board, Dunleavey gets his board.
To correct the fake news/rumors on other sites and forums:
-Ruffner's 'seat' did not go to Johnstone. Deck Boss in his article above, has it correct.
-Maw is a non-resident of Alaska, Johnstone is a resident of Alaska.

Johnstone may meet the technical legalities of being a resident. Maybe. Hopefully that is fully scrutinized this time around. But, he definitely is a part-timer only and has flown up from Arizona for nearly every meeting the last stint he did on the Board. Maybe all of them. We can do better than bringing in a dude off the golf course in Arizona.
