An industry insider, Kenny Down, has been appointed to a Washington state seat on the North Pacific Fishery Management Council.
Here's a rather incomplete press release announcing the appointment.
Down is president of Blue North, which operates freezer longline vessels targeting Alaska cod.
He replaces John Henderschedt, who resigned from the council to accept a position with the National Marine Fisheries Service.

FOX IN CHICKEN COOP. MAYBE HE CAN GET SOME GUIDANCE FROM BLUE NORTH'S LOBBYIST, ARNIE FUGULVOG. UNBELIEVABLE.
Good news. Longliner rep on the council. Good luck Kenny. Keep them honest.
Industry insider? Absolutely. Kenny can be counted on to protect corporate interests. Good news and honesty? Not so much.
Congratulations Kenny.....you are a tireless worker for the industry and well deserving of this appointment.....pw
Kenny is a really nice guy, and a really kind person. He'll do a fine job, and will be refreshing.
Generally speaking, people who are nice and kind do not participate in transfer pricing schemes.
Less generally speaking, people who are nice and kind, do not make vague accusations.
Not sure who anon posted re transfer pricing, but if Blue North is doing so, and Kenny is involved, then it comes to evidence. If you have evidence, incidence, reason to file IRS Form 211 complaint, then visit the International Division or Criminal Investigation Division in Seattle federal building and turn it in, make the complaint, file for the reward. "Of course they are (violating Sec. 482)" is close to a given these days, but not proof of a crime in action.
That's our advice.
