Halibut retreats

The International Pacific Halibut Commission finally got around to issuing a press release with this year's catch limits and season dates.

The commission set a coastwide catch limit of 36.97 million pounds, a 10.3 percent decline from last year.

The season will run from March 10 to Dec. 7.

    Her write up also appeared in the Kodiak Daily Mirror.

    Your comment makes it sound like the catch limits were just announced when it actually was a matter of the media not following the story as it happened.
