The commission set a coastwide catch limit of 36.97 million pounds, a 10.3 percent decline from last year.
The season will run from March 10 to Dec. 7.

The 2023 halibut catch limits for all users were posted the day they were announced at www.alaskafish.news by Laine Welch.
Her write up also appeared in the Kodiak Daily Mirror.
Your comment makes it sound like the catch limits were just announced when it actually was a matter of the media not following the story as it happened.
