Jeff Regnart is stepping down as the state's commercial fisheries director, effective Oct. 2.
That's according to a note sent on behalf of Commissioner Sam Cotten to Alaska Department of Fish and Game employees.
"Jeff has done an exceptional job serving the division, the department and the state in many capacities for over two decades," the note said. "We hate to see him go, but also understand that personal reasons will take him outside the state."
Regnart was appointed commercial fisheries director in February 2011 during the Parnell administration.
Hoping someone as bright, thoughtful and sharp as Jeff is in the wings to fill his shoes.
ReplyDeleteSo the question is who is going to take his place? The only thoughtful purpose he manged was to protect himself. He made sure that whenever he made a decision it was politicaly correct. Sharp is the way he treated most fishermen. He disrespected most and would never stand up for the fishery. The bright spot is that we will not have to go through BOF meetings and the pain of him doing nothing and saying nothing. Most commfish staff did not feel that he would cover their backs, only that they were sure he was covering his backside.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with fishermen like 9:59 is that they think the world revolves round them. Regnant did what he had to do to advocate for the resource first. Sorry if you didn't get your way. You'll get over it, we already have.
ReplyDeleteThey say ignorance is bliss, in your case it is just ignorant. The problem is that there are individuals who say they are for the resource but really they are out for themselves. Easy to hide and no, I did get my way, he is gone!
ReplyDeleteAnother loser Area M idiot grasping at straws
ReplyDeleteScott Kelly?
ReplyDeleteHow about Roland Maw?
ReplyDeleteGovernor Walker selected him for BOF: Failed/ No Go...
Governor Walker selected him for Commissioner of Fish and Game: Failed/ No Go...
Now that Maw admits he is a non resident of Alaska and has pending charges for Permanent Fund fraud, would he not be a great one to lead the Commercial Fisheries Division (no)?
By the way, when will Governor Walker's former law partner, our Attorney general, charge Mr. Maw with PFD fraud?
PS- the Governor needs an advisor that can/ will tell him not to have his photo taken with Maw and his UCIDA group, as was done in Kenai last week (reference UCIDAs facebook page).
This does not help our commercial fishing industry.
Ricky Geese?
ReplyDeleteRicky and Roland.
ReplyDeletePerfect. Co-Management at its best...
I don't know - Roland seemed to have a problem distinguishing between stacking permits and stacking residencies...
ReplyDeleteYou don't know 6 pm? Everyone else in Alaska does, including Roland, Rickey, and Regnart.
ReplyDelete"In December 1972, the Board of Fish and Game eliminated the set net fishery"
