Higher risk than usual for Bristol Bay processors?

The Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association has posted a new sockeye market analysis.

"This will be the riskiest year in recent memory for Bristol Bay processors," the report says. "Wholesale prices for sockeye are at peak levels and price resistance from buyers is increasing."

This should make any fisherman both vomit and experience some elation at the same time. You mean the processors don't get to have their cake and eat it too this year? Fishermen who actually fish a legal, clean fishery, may make some money? Who would've thought? This is how Bristol Bay should be. I couldn't find a sliver of sympathy for the processors' back-end market conditions this year if I tried.

I remember 1988 well. I see the same attitude in fishermen now as then. Everyone was a genius, everyone thought they were on a life-long ride that had Maui figured in too.
