This is going to be very interesting. UFA made a point of not supporting their regular guy Jensen. Their executive director J. C. made it a point to tell him they were not going to support him. Instead they threw their support for a Dr who has a temporary home in Petersburg who had residency problems. Not a smart thing. Bobby T has been angry ever since Jensen did not vote for a co-op for the sitka herring fishery and so he also took his best shot this go around. Problem is, they both missed. The Executive director of SEAFA took her best shot at him too and she missed. Whew! Not good for either organizations. Jensen has discovered just how ineffective UFA has become. It is a shame, because it used to have such a good reputation and a loyal following. Time for a shake up perhaps.New leadership and administration maybe? Where is Arni Thomson when he is needed most? Oh, that's right, he left when the getting was good. Meantime, wonder how they are going to kiss and make up with Jensen. Probably a little late for that, however.

I see Jensen squeaked out another term with KRSA support.

Bet you are sorry that you and UFA opposed Jensen Bobby T.,big mistake, big! Kiss off coop herring fishery and maybe get ready for a cap on the fishery Bobby T and Jullianne C. Turn out the lights the party's over. How stupid could you have been.

What about Fritz?

It is a resounding win for Jensen. One that clearly states that he was governing on principle and unbiased reasoning.
Which is popular among all who would embrace integrity and honesty.
It also ends the obvious money influenced grip of UFA and Mr. T. have had over Alaska's fishermen and families. Like rats abandoning a sinking ship, Bob T's. Southeast Ak. Seiners Assoc., could be next. A huge victory for all users.

As a SEAK fisherman, i am getting fed up with the antics of out statewide organization. UFA needs to be overhauled. Why did we send our president to the Cook inlet meeting? Why do we have an ESSN fisherman as an officer? The Cook Inlet fishers have been giving the commercial fishing industry a bad name and for some time. Why did we openly oppose John Jensen, only to later support him? Who makes these stupid decisions? Did we somehow forget that Jensen has been a member, has voted consistently with SEAK commercial fishing interests and has been our guy for over a decade. So we listen to an ESSN guy who is now one of our officers and just because Jensen casts one vote against their interests, just one, we in SEAK want to throw him under the buss for an unknown replacement. Whoever was responsible for that decision needs to go, NOW! Where ever I go I hear more and more complaints about our industry. And it is because of Cook inlet. Let's divorce ourselves from this group of outliers as soon as possible. They are probably a doomed fishery and we do not want to be associated with their controversial issues. let's get our respect back.

@8:51 AM. Lol. If I was a KRSA guy, I might type a post like yours...just to be an a-hole.

I can also tell you don't know much about what you're writing about. Do you know how officers for any board of directors are elected? You might actually take time to find out why UFA president was a the CI meeting, though it was not in the capacity as an officer of UFA.

You are right about one thing: UFA should have endorsed Jensen from the get-go.

All three BOF appointees were confirmed by unanimous vote! As for UFA, KPFA and Bobby T, I am reminded of the C&W song with the phrase: "Turn out the lights, the parties over" and by the way, 8:51 I am not a KRSA guy. I may even be one of your friends in SEAK. Who knows. And it makes no difference why the UFA president was at the UCI meeting. It certainly was not to support the sports fishery. And given that their VEEP is a leader in the ESSN fishery it does not take rocket science to put that puzzle together. So a-hole or not, facts are facts. And you have not denied them or their very likely impacts. Why can't we just rid ourselves of an unneeded burden. Hopefully we will at the next election.

Jensen is a vote trader. That is the only way to explain his voting record.

10:24, Jensen a vote trader??? Let's see. He has literally voted thousands of time for commercial interests and at UCI in February he voted one ( 1 ) time to deny a Board Generated proposal that would have undone a sports fishing regulation that he had voted against. Please elaborate on his "vote trader" record. There has never been a member of the BOF that has voted more consistently with commercial fishing interests than has Jensen. Never! Now that could and should change. Perhaps Jensen has seen just how greedy some commercial fishing interests are and he will become more balanced in his votes, as he should be. UFA and Bobby T did not help their causes by overtly opposing and insulting Jensen. As another writer has said, UFA is a failed group in need of new leadership. The clock is ticking.
