The 2014 run forecast for large Stikine River king salmon is 26,000 fish, too few to open fisheries in early May, the Department of Fish and Game says. More details here.
2014 in season run size for stikine kings came in at 25000. The in river joint Alaskan and Canadian test fishery is the only thing that can confirm this run size and be sure not to over harvest these awesome salmon. Kings for the future!
Now they will underestimate it for the next seven years.
