State trims Bristol Bay sockeye forecast

The Department of Fish and Game's revised forecast calls for a 2014 sockeye salmon harvest of 16.86 million fish, down 620,000 fish from the previous projection.

Most of the cut is in the Nushagak District.

$2.50 lb. , doom all you want.

You realize PWS has has those prices for years now right...

Copper River was around , $2.00 with all the incentives last year, but that is because the whole fleet is onboard with either rsw or slush ice in bags. sound fish were less , but still slushed.

...and your point being...?

In PWS the whole fleet is on board with ice or RSW ??
Small percentage of boats have RSW.
You see a bow picker bombing by @ 45 knots, how much ice / slush you think he's got on board.
The routine is a splash of ice and deliver often. Get real dude, don't start believing all that Copper River
hype .

So in 2012, Jim Sands revises the Nusagak run up, post season? Like that budget he approved on the Dillingham City Council?

Back when those hippi's started the Copper River Fishermens Co-op, that Seattle Seven was not happy...But of course the Seven didn't bump the price, until after the Co-Op actually started processing and paying their fleet.

Nowadays, you don't even have to process a fish to make em sweat, and 16 MILLION, just another 100 year adverage catch, and prediction.

A number 3 in a can, at 70 cents an ounce, and we need some more quality?

Quality, shown best after that Copper River Co-Op went bankrupt, that bunch of hippi's had a fatal flaw, but the Seattle Seven's Favorite, came to their rescue too.

Another ADF&G correction, like when James Brady wiped out the Kvichak and Coghill Lake sockeye systems, on that 4th of July weekend 1985? One thing never changes with these politicians, who call themselves biologists, and can we get another 1% marketing tax to make sure they can find work in retirement too.

Actually I received 2.20 for my sound reds all summer.

Having a few bags of ice does not slow you down much, its when you add water to make slush, I know everyone on my float was slushing this year.

Kodiak was $1.93 gill net delivered to tender all season.

Ice machines for the house are required, sippies for all.
I love BB. I'd fish 4 "fourtycents"

Good thing we all get along. Ice, Rsw, Floating, Light Bags.
Don't round haul, Don't hang onto a set to long and toe on it, you might choke the shit out of them.
GO SeaHawks!

I've fished in the Bay for a long time and finally had the opportunity to see the "quality" product that a couple other gillnet/seine fisheries around the state are producing. I was shocked at how terrible it was compared to my RSW and bled fish in the Bay, and the fact that they are getting a higher price/lb. BB historically has gotten a bad name for a number of reasons, but I honestly think our quality has come around to compare with any other sockeye in the state. Please, at least participate in this fishery so you know what you are talking about before you start bashing it based on heresay.

What kind of price rumors are you guys hearing for 2014? And for what area?

Bristol Bay : $2.00 lb. base plus chilling and other "incentives", should end at around $2.50.

I averaged $2.20 in UCI for RSW fish. May we all have great prices in 2014!
