It's unofficial!

Alaska's all-species commercial salmon catch now stands at just over 234 million fish, the Department of Fish and Game reports.

That blows away the old record of 221.9 million set in 2005.

  4. They are all wild; same genes, same ocean, same harvest.

  5. 6% to 10% of PWS pinks are from stream production, the rest are from hatcheries. That being said, a lot of the fish in the streams on any given year are hatchery fish. There are few, if any, streams in PWS that have not been influenced by hatchery strays.

  6. who cares where the fish come from, they all pay the same price! Haters will always whine, cry & be nattering nabobs of negativity! Do you want some whine, with that cheese?

  7. the chinese can eat this harvest in one day, you need MORE. because the price held up is proof the processors have already known they will be able to unload it all. unlike the days of "business as usual", SALMON GLUTS, poor marketing and 5 cents a pound humpies. SOME improvement needed in management, whereas Excursion Inlet needs to vet their employees, they just found a fugitive in camp there, the manager should take some responsiblity and keep the plant clean.

  8. I seined both in PWS and in Southeast , In both places the fishing was very similar, mostly just hook hauling off points and at the cape.Although it was great to catch all those millions of Hatchery dogs in Southeast.
they are all wild fish, I agree.

  9. Wild or not who cares. You guys have a good thing going. Glad everyone doesn't have to fish like BB and battle the "over-the-liners" to try and make a living.
