Begich bombs

U.S. Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, says he has "secured a waiver to allow continued use and sales of non-lethal pest control devices like 'seal bombs' through the 2013 fishing season."

The senator further says he is "working for a permanent solution to allow their continued use."

Deckboss must admit this is the first he's heard of this explosive issue.

If they stop selling seal bombs they won't stop selling shot guns. Something to keep in mind...

Must continue deterrence vs. alternative. Sea lions and seals are to fishermen as wolves and coyotes are to ranchers.

Both above are wrong. If there is not enough to go around, there should be no openings.

Seriously? You must have NEVER been around a fishery that is financialy impacted by these mammals. You are ignorant on this subject. Let me give you the analogy: EVERYDAY, a gang of thugs comes to your office, trashes your equipment and work, leaving with money out of your pocket.

It has nothing to do with a lack of fish. The sea lions
target our gear. They train there young to do the same
If they just grabbed a fish or two on the way by no
one would care but some groups of them don't even try
to fish for them selfs when there are boats around.
They will follow you to the ancore at night and meet on your
way out in the morning. Just to further inform the hippies
