Michelle Zuanich has two permits to sell,Apparently stacking permits is legal in ak.gee I wonder if mr. slime could possibley known about a buyback,I don't wish anyone hard luck but I hope SB seafoods falls on their ass.
you can get away with anything here in alaska!what a shame no one goes to jail!!!!
does anyone really believe the past few year's pink and chum prices would be anywhere near what they've been without silver bay seafoods? the fall of sbs would be damaging not just to Rob Z but also to the 62 fisherman who own a share of the company. you can can count on the price falling without sbs in the game thus harming all pink and chum harvesters. is that really what your hoping for?
While Rob isn't my favorite person he is partially responsible for the success experienced by the se and pws fleets recently and deserves some credit for that, regardless of what one may think of him.
Don't be naive. SBS is not inflating or helping the price of pinks in SE. Pink salmon is a global commodity, grounds price is not helped by Zuanich, Riggs, or Troy. Sure, they buy in bulk, sell poor product and pay claims. A lot of fish is being harvested in SE. This would happen whether SBS is in the game or not.
so your saying the benevolence of the majors would result in the same ex-vessel prices of the past few years? naive?
Supply and demand, my fiend. Not Silver Bay and dementia.
At least Michelle get's the "convoluted accounting" prize!

Brings back old memories when was Zuanich was head of puget sound seiners when we fought an initiative to ban commercial fishing on puget sound,he did try to make a deal with the initiative backers to not include seiners in the ban when it required all gear groups to fight this initiative,I know that we have to support our gear groups, but what a corrupt prick
Blah blah blah.
Anonymous Crap.
It'd take a decade to list all the inner workings and writing and hard work that MR. Z has spent on behalf of his employer, PSVOA, on initiatives, limited entry fisheries, treaties, buybacks, marketing initiatives, and yes, even starting a seafood processing company with 62 fishermen as shareholders.
You anonymous p-icks can just blah blah blah all day long. Cry all day little doggies.
Rob Z. is a rock star dude.
None of you has obviously ever worked with Rob.

"As a matter of immediate public necessity, to relieve economic distress among individual fishermen and those dependent upon them for a livelihood, to conserve the rapidly dwindling supply of salmon in Alaska, to insure fair competition among those engaged in commercial fishing, and to make manifest the will of the people of Alaska, the use of fish traps for the taking of salmon for commercial purposes is hereby prohibited in all the coastal waters of the State."

Nothing has changed with the buy back other than there is a new tax in place on fishermen and the maximum possible participants number has been lowered by 64. In 2011 there was 265 fishermen that participated in the southeast salmon seine fishery. There are still 40 idle southeast salmon permits. There are always a certain percentage of permits that get traded in every salmon fishery. Nothing has changed, there will not be any less fishermen on hook offs waiting for sets. There is no direct benefit to the current permit holders. The point of any buy back is to lower the current participants so that remaining fishermen get a better opportunity. This has not happened. The permit values in the short term will go up but over time they will soften and the artificial inflation that occurred will average out. The winners of the buyback are the 64 permits that were bought back. They are the only winners and the reality is that there is a good possibility the southeast salmon seine fishery will never feel any benefit from this buy-back.
Hey booby, Happy Mother's day, you truly are a mother...
At least one Alaskan, knows about Alaska.
