Yet another reality TV show about Alaska commercial fishing is set to make its premiere.
Hook, Line & Sisters will focus on fisherman Dean Anderson and family.
Deckboss understands the one-hour opening episode will feature this year's Sitka herring fishery, with six more episodes taking in salmon seining at Chignik.
The series website describes Anderson as "a grizzled sea dog known for his aggressive fishing."
The series begins Thursday night and runs through Feb. 2 on TLC. Check your local listings for times.

Awesome! More opportunity for Dean to talk our ears off...
Yep, Dean running his mouth. At least there's eye candy.
Wow. Dean does it again. Terrible.
Gosh, dont watch it if it bothers you so...
but you know you will.
I'm looking forward to seeing it and am glad to see Alaska fishing getting lots of exposure.
-Brian
Deano finally found a crew that can take his shit.
I'm going to start describing myself on Facebook as "a grizzled sea-dog."
Say what you like. He's laughing all the way to the bank!
They couldn't have picked a better year to film seining on chignik. At Last documentation for the board of fish to really see how rough they have it there.
The Board of Fish?
You mean the Board of Screaming Flea Productions?
43 See Grunert I, 109 P.3d at 935.
44 The dissenting opinion suggests that we are drastically
chang[ing] the discussion by identifying a new flaw in the
cooperative scheme the fact the emergency regulation allowed
permit holders to benefit economically from the work of others.
Dissent at 32. But in Grunert I we stated that the Chignik
cooperative fishery scheme is fundamentally at odds with [the
idea of active individual participation] because it allows people
who are not actually fishing to benefit from the fishery
resource. 109 P.3d at 935 (emphasis added). The cooperative
scheme addressed in Grunert I differed from the cooperative
scheme we consider here, but our conclusion is the same: The
legislature must give the board statutory authority to create a
fishery scheme in which permit holders profit from the harvests
of other permit holders.
45 We were informed at oral argument that our decision may
affect other cooperative fisheries. We express no opinion about those fisheries. We have been given no specific information
about those fisheries and at oral argument it appeared there were
disputes about how each of those fisheries should be defined,
such as whether any of them involves a single fishery.
Even Malcolm Jamie Ross knows the chignik cooperative fishery was a farce. Where's he now? Who's fishery is he f@&$king up now? The way he's moving he'll be in southeast soon. Then he will have to do battle with football head himself. That can be good or bad. Only time will tell.
Great show though. Fun to watch.
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Jamies Crying!~

The man is crazy!
Great show guys! Pay no attention to the hype and the bogus comments.
This show was far better than anything the deadliest catch ever put together.
Totally agree. Now the whole world gets to watch Dean spaz out.
who's dean????????
Bobbyt and Dean should partner up, there both seiners! Only highliner in AK that can't keep a crew. What a joke!
The women on that boat seem very nice.
I'm curios who the G01A permit holder is ?
Dean is a total freak. Horrible portrayal of s seiner. Watch your insurance go up.
If you're curious go look it up.
Watch your insurance rates go up?
Like the Mabel, sinking in Angoon, or the Lively Jane in Anderson Bay, six miles southwest of Valdez.
Your on the wrong boat as usual.
Dean could got a lesson from Black Barney who put his crew on the beach with a .45 Colt.
Mutiny, where Barney's crew all thought fishin was a free ride too?
Saved by the Coast Guard, and warned about that federal law violation for mutineers.
Been fishin long?
as usual, no idea what ur talking about. Maybe throw in an "as best shown by" thingy to help us out?
Yeah oh yeah. Didn't you know that mutiny is legally protected now?
NO idea what UR talking about, dude. That "crazy" guy knows more than you will ever understand.
btw, they're called links.
I'm sure that you're sure that you know more than everyone else on here. I'm sure you're dazzled by your own brilliance and cleverness you every time you post. You just can't communicate your thoughts in a post that's coherent to others, that's all.
This thread is about Dean Anderson, but why don't you tell us about Grunert again? Please?
I thought it was a fantastic show, I hope he prospers from it, (which he will), and the show continues.
You're nobody until you been raked
over the coals @ Deckboss .
HOOK, LINE & SISTERS is an inside look into a little explored territory - the wild, unpredictable and competitive world of deep-sea commercial fishing. Patriarch Dean Anderson is a grizzled sea dog known for his aggressive fishing as much as his salmon hauls. As captain of the Memry Anne, he squares off against rival fisherman, hungry sharks and his own hardworking family. His wife, Susan, spends as much time refereeing familial feuds as managing the family's finances..."
And the hungry sharks' who can't make it fishing...Jamie Ross? Unexplored Territory from a Social Services Agency.
Where Fishermen have to explain the fishing laws, to the Board, Law, and the rest of the brain dead reality show on dispay, right here in Chignik!
Ohh, Ohh Ohh Jamies Cryin...
Raked over the Coals?
Jamie Ross and Associates, Raking themselves over the Coals, by the Majority!
"...I think that it changes sort of the economic model in another sort of more fundamental way as well. Under the limited entry system, holders who don't do well for whatever reason -- bad luck, bad judgment, bad finances, bad equipment, who knows -- are going to economically suffer, and ultimately
their option is to -- you know, their end game is to sell the permit, get out of the fishery, and some new entrant will arrive on the scene. Under the co-op system, those who for whatever set of reasons are less able to succeed economically will rationally opt to participate as minimally as possible.
Ten deliveries only and then they stop. That permit remains in their hands and new people don't come in, whether those are new people from the local community or from Anchorage or from
Seattle, that doesn't matter, but there is going to be less turnover. That may be a wiser system. I'm not making a judgment as to which is better, but they are clearly different, and the first is the one that is set up by the Act, and I think the second system is not permitted by the Act. Perhaps that should be changed, but that's not my call...
"If you are a fisherman out there and you are thinking about suing to get satisfaction, I would advise you to take your money and invest it in the Board process—hire experts, do everything you can up front, and your money will generally be better spent."

Hook Line and Sinker?
Never one to let the minor matter of a major holiday get in the way of fighting, Union and Confederate troops in Florida continued their usual activities today. Ships and town alike were bombarded by Federal naval forces around Pensacola today. Returning the favor, Confederate troops bombarded the dickens out of Fort Pickens. That installation, an Army base from conflicts long before the Civil War, never left Union control.
Couldn't agree more with poster on12/31 @10:34a.m. and 2:26p.m.
JT Granger or whom it concerns,
Are you some kind of arm-chair fisherman or what? Do you even fish? Probabally somebodys deckhand in BB for a whole month and a half long season. No-body cares about the co-op any more. If you were so smart you would would no that Dean was part of the original lawsuit to stop Jamie and the co-op.
About the only thing I agree with bobbyt on this fish blog, is that you need to come out of your moms basement sometimes and get some air.
You would'nt even last one opener fishing with Dean.
^^^what he said^^^
Yeah, I was hoping Santa would bring him a new tin foil hat for Christmas, but I see that didn't happen.
That guy doesn't need a new tin foil hat...the one he has on now seems to be working fine!
No new buyback posts, so this guy had to take his black helicopters, grassy knolls and general Custer somewhere.
The posts are getting progressively nuttier.
Ya know, you guys think that he's just some armchair tin foil hat inexperienced moms basement nut got it all wrong. If, and that is a BIG if, he couldn't fish your collective --ses off, I would do it in my sleep, with one engine tied behind my stern.
You "guys" are something else.
If someone wants to put up posts that sound like they're logging in from the twilight zone, they should expect some criticism.
Glad to hear you're such a bad-ass fisherman!
Been to any tin hat Chignik meeting's lately?
Proposal #34 5 AAC 15.330 Gear
Allow hand and power trolling in the Chignik area by adding the following language to the Tin Foil Hat Chignik Management Plan...
How about those Statewide Power Trollers, no Tin Hat Required!
Ya know, if you really did know the AK BOF & ADFG & all the various players and the twists and turns, then you would KNOW that it is all out of Serlings Twilight Zone.
And todays Twilight Zone, from the basement in Juneau.

To anonymous@7:58--It must be a heavy burden to have that special knowledge on fish stuff that only a chosen few have. To think, so few really "know" what's going on--really--and you're one of them. How do you manage? And a fishing bad-ass on top of it!
The dude with the tin foil hat that's two sizes too small is mostly just boring. He needs to get a new schtick.
They use to troll all the way out to False pass, Dutch and beyond. Trolling is a state wide permit, it should open back up. If some people in Homer and a few other places could have there way, it will. I think it would be a good thing, to show some of you guys out west what a true high quality salmon looks like.
We used to be able to do a lot of things years ago that we can't do now, unfortunately. It would be a good thing for troll permit values, if you happen to own one, but for others in the established fisheries, maybe not so much.
Its always boring, when 3 sizes are too small at Petersburg Packing, a little political subdivision, shown best at the CBC Club, S.E. Seine Buyback Program.
"political subdivisions" quite a concept when your red CBC Hat, is a bit too big, to hold in those 3 big braincells, in the basement at SEAS, CFEC, UFA, and Petersburg Packing.
It's a great big state, with quite a few small brains, shown best with Petersburg Packing Co, a "political subdivision" where 3 braincells can never be covered by that CBC Hat size 19 sizes to large!
http://humanrights.alaska.gov/
Can one spell "Political Subdivision" Hook, Line and Stinker!
Fishin for Tuition, after catching the Stinker, and Sinker,
One Fish,
Two Fish,
Red Fish
Blue Fish, oh how man many fish there are!
any person? two big stinkey words from William H. Seward.

Reality
It ain't on the boob tube! Go Boobyt!
It sounds like you want to hold his plunger pole.
Knowledge of the truth IS a heavy burden if you intend to twist it and use it to your personal gains illegally. I don't have that problem.
I prefer to better the industry as a whole, not to steal from within. Plenty to "go around" for honest efforts.
And, thanks for recognizing my bad-assedness fishing abilities, I'll try not to get too swelled up in the head. You're probably not that bad yourself, keep practicing and you too may have a shot at attaining the upper levels of the trade.
Yes, thank you Obi-wan. I'll keep practicing. 25th season coming up, I'm starting to get the hang of it!
Blahh, blah, blah, Dean's still the man! Only a seiner knows the feeling of what its really like to load up on salmon, the rest are just going through the motions.
"Blahh, blah, blah, Dean's still the man! Only a seiner knows the feeling of what its really like to load up on salmon, the rest are just going through the motions."
Well, this has to be close to the most imbecilic post I've ever read here. First of all, personally, I always found those 'loading up' feelings were greater with herring than salmon. When you place it in the 'bigger dick' catagory all sympathies for your mental impairment go out the window. You are one pathetic clown.
"Imbecilic"?
Really?
Been fishin long, fishin for tuition?

quoth bobbyt
I'm finding myself agreeing with one of the posters above. I think you have a mancrush on bobbyt. You sure act like it on here.
"Dean Dean the Fishen Machine!"
"TRA" You can you Put that on a sweat shirt along with your others.
No Charge.
Ya see, I figured you weren't too green, 25 years ain't bad, goin' on over 40 myself. Like I said (Luke), keep practicing, you'll get it.
You sure you have the right guy?
Ive run a seiner 30 years and caught around 38 million pounds during that time - averaging 2 million pounds a year since 2001
There's alot of different styles, approaches to seining
The important thing on this show is to show the good side of seiners and of the ak commfish industry and adfg
So long as this family does this -rock onandersons
I've been lucky-made sure there were no breakdowns-had great crew-good processors
There's hundreds of exceptional seiners in Alaska
Some of these guys are even highliners
Eye candy is nice on the boat but there is way too much estrogen involved. I know of a few skippers out there with only daughters who must think to themselves regularly 'Fack, I wish I had sons who I could just tell to STFU when they come into my wheelhouse.'
This whole family knows how to work!
I fished Crab for years, one thing is certain and that is Dean knows how to work hard. He is a die hard! I really like this show. Hope his bad luck is done for a long time. His girls are being taught by a very good fisherman and they are pretty good fishewomen as well. Keep it up.
Deans a freak on the boat .......yelling freeking out of control....cant even get along with the tenders what a prick
Great show! You sure don't own a boat like that being a lowliner. Even if your dad was a good fisherman and got you started in the business. Fishing is all about hard work and paying your dues. Dean's actually as genuine as they come. He gets caught up in the moment. He's not afraid to take risks and fail, sometimes it works for him sometimes it blows up in his face. Still you have to treat people how you would like to be treated. But I do have to say if I was getting 2,000 fish a haul I would want to get unloaded too.
no party like a downtown seattle party
er what?
I said there aint no party like the DOWNTOWN ...Downtown SEATTLE PARTY
So Dean's a freak on the boat?
Just be another idiot, and you too can get a job on the White Star Line, for politically correct skippers, without a clue.
For example, the best in the world!
Edward J. Smith, skipper of the White Star Liner "Olympic's" maiden voyage, 14 June 1911, and another emergency run to Southampten after another collision with the HMS Hawke.
Next vessel;
Edward J. Smith, skipper White Star Line
HMS Titanic, sister ship Olympic, and the politically correct skipper, it works the same in any ocean.
Dean's a freak?
And that just depends on the meaning of the term freak?
http://www.d13.uscgnews.com/go/doc/21/986395/
"Ive run a seiner 30 years and caught around 38 million pounds during that time - averaging 2 million pounds a year since 2001."
How come it always comes down to how BIG something is? Why not just say, "My dick is big, bigger than yours, and I'm hear to tell you....." Thank gawd my kids don't have the Alaska swinging disease! The fishing industry in AK truly contains the best AND the worst.
I wish they would show the Grizzled Sea Dog in Sitka a few years ago crashing into the Confidence, litigating the collision while there's a huge load of herring dying alongside, nearly losing the boat, and losing the entire load of fish. Getting around them is only half of it when your in the deep water. He certainly is fun to watch.
How would you make a set?
Herring envy.
aint no party like a downtown party downtown Sitka party
Turn out the lights the partys over
Is this show still on? Didn't see it last night. Couldn't find it on the TV guide either.
Anybody know when it's on again?
nobody enjoys watching a fishing captain so full of anger and greed...I feel sorry for his family the way he verbally abuses them. This show was an embarasment and not enjoyable to watch.
whatever all your nonesense and comments leave my husband mike grunert out of it. I can add my name pam
great show.. it's been cancelled though
The dumbing down process of this great nation has to stop.An intelligent show on fishing would be interesting. This was a novelty at best.
