Well worth a listen

Speaking of Arne Fuglvog, APRN's Libby Casey had a heck of a story yesterday on how former crewmen pushed authorities to investigate the ex-aide to Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

I'm glad those crewmen pushed for the investigation. More pushing is needed especially in regards to the CDQ management of public monies.

Amazing story. Leads one to believe that NMFS and others are way to close.

If you remember Arne was on the NPFMC
during those years with his good friend
Jim Balsiger, who also happened to be
the investigating agents BOSS as the
NMFS Alaska regional Director. He
also just happened to be the Acting
head of NMFS in WASHINGTON D.C.,THE same
position Arne was due to take over in 09.
IT'S A MIGHTY SMALL WORLD

The same Jim Balsiger that's married
to a fisheries lobbyist Heather Mc Carty
of Mc Carty associate LOBBYIST that was a
candidate for Arnes position on the NPFMC
when he took his post on Murkowski's
staff. And his wife was employed by Stephanie Madsen another member of the
NPFC as a lobbyist.
It sound's like this is more than just a small world. wHAT a nice tight
group of friends.

It looks like this story is getting limited play

If the truth were told, Murkowski could not afford to lose Fuglvog during her re-elction campaign.

Fuglvog was her point man to deliver critically needed votes from Fairbanks and Western Alaska.

Fuglvog illegally controlled the dispbursement of Yukon Disaster monies, and he doled it out not to the illegally to the tow native groups in Fairbanks and Western Alaska not by the rules of Congress, but to the parties who could deliver the most votes and campaign cash to support her campaign.

Dig in that pile of stench and you will find Alaska's NMFS personel and Fuglvog breaking all the laws for disbursement of Disaster funds, to a select few, who delivered the votes and cash.

$1.5 million delivered in contravention of all the rules for disbursement od disaster funds.

Just a few months before the General Election, and after her defeat in the Primary.

Getting the Fairbanks Native organizations in her corner was crucial, and Fuglvog delivered these votes with the taxpayers money, and it broke every rule for disbursement of Disaster Funds.

Robbed the taxpayers to get Murkowski re-elected.

A mere thirty days after delivering the Disaster money, the Native groups involved delivered the cash to support Murkowski's campaign and put one hell of an effort into their "get out the vote" campaing in the villages.

Two peas in a pod.

Joe Miller is not someone who should have been elected - someone who lies about their financials, revoked LLCs, a campaign staffer who has 8(a) ANC contracts that he is in business with, and destroys the public records of his employer (the Fairbanks North Star Borough) is not exactly someone who should be out there casting stones at glass houses, he who abused so many entitlement programs and such.

I'd choose Arne Fuglvog over Joe Miller any day.

Its shameful that Alaska gets used as the model for responsible fisheries management! The fishermen are cheating, the policy makers ARE the fishermen, and the lobbyists control the debate. Hell of a system. Need more separation between fishermen and the NMFS. Foxes are watching the hen house. Look at the Council process, and who controls the debate. Is the NMFS really in charge here?

Dan Pryse was fired from the Kamilar because he was a drunk and a cocaine addict. When he was in the Coast Guard he was a smugler bringing cocaine to Alaska. He new the fishing was wrong but he never complained. He wanted the money also so he could buy more coke to yield his profits!!!

Anonymous said...

Is that the best you can come up with
Dan was never fired for any reason.
He was replaced by an IFQ permit holder
as a business decision of Arne's to make
more money. Smuggling coke in the Coast Guard, Come on carpet bagger.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 incorporated provisions to encourage, protect and reward whistleblowers reporting corporate fraud on publicly traded companies.

A law similar to this needs to be implemented at NMFS/NOAA for the fishing industry.

Think of the uproar this would cause and the ensuing change in fishing habits. Now who's the highliner??

If a crewmember was fired for being a drunk & a cocaine user, that would cover a lot in the UFA and the fleet, starting with Arne's college buddy from Petersburg.

I spent 4 years of my life in the
US Coast Guard in Southeast Alaska
I SPENT OVER 800 DAYS on patrol running
the A B LINE on the Canadian boarder.
enforcing Salmon treaty laws. and patrolling Alaskan waters, and participated in over 250 search and rescues. And you lowlifes are trying to
tear that down.
Is there no level that you won't stoop
to to make a buck. You should be ashamed.

Dan, there are some low-lifes out there. Try not to let them get to you. All fishermen, at least the one's who who fish legally, thank you for coming forward.
Appreciate your service to this country.

Without Mr. Dan Pryse, Mr. Fuglvog would be the Director of NMFS. Nuff said.

Anonymous said...

Please Dan be honest! You are a drug user This is not a attempt to slander your name. I think you know you did this to yourself>

Anonymous said...

You mean like Arne did this to himself??

Anonymous said...

Drug user or not if there's proof that he's telling the truth it makes no difference. The end result justifies the motive and the means.

Cleaning out the slime in the fisheries management ladder requires serious attention. Finger pointing and blattering about individuals gets us nowhere. It's counter productive.

It is obvious that Fuglvog was guilty of crimes. He has plead guilty.

Those who turned him in showed courage. He is an embarrassment to all hard working honest fishermen.

Many of Alaska's fishing Mafia are also an embarrassment to the thousands of hard working fishermen in Alaska.

When Fuglvog's name was submitted for the top NMFS post, the fishermen on the east coast objected to his nomination because they consider every one from Alaska "dirty",

I can understand their view if we look at the top political leadership coming out of Alaska.

This is an unfair burden that the small hard working fishermen will have to endure, until the politic folks are all exposed for the little self-centered political people they are, at the top of Alaskan fisheries

Whether someone has a substance abuse problem, now or in the past is irrelevant -- and a cheap shot.

Whether some used drug, or whether Fuglvog broke the law, are two entirely different subjects, and Fuglvog has admitted his guilt.

On the national level Alaska would get better treatment if it had leadership that was not dirty.

So Arne gets caught with his pants down and is now going to pay for his illegal acts. Someone snitched him out! Now "MAN UP" Arne...Rumour is you are going to rat out others to save your ass.....NOTHING WORTH THAN A SNITCH!

Arne Fuglvog lied to NMFS, and cheated. He lied and cheated his family, the very family that gave him all his wealth. He lied and cheated on his wife, he lied and cheated on his taxes. Arne Fuglvog lied and cheated about the charter industry, he lied and cheated about marine stewartship, he lied and cheated about crab rationalization for $$$$ x 1,000,000's. Arne Fuglvog lied and cheated the natives of western Alaska, to buy votes for Lisa Murkowski's campaign, and "LISA MURKOWSKI LIED" about knowing the NMFS investigation was happening. And now Arne Fuglvog has LIED TO THE HONORABLE JUDGE HOLLAND.
Pleading guilty to fisheries violations is just a smoke screen for the long list that should be uncovered.
Take a look at the big picture, there is a pattern of lies for all involved. Key word "PATTERN".

No one is as bad as some say or as good as other's think, but Arne is a friend that I have known for many years and will continue to be proud to have as a friend. I am not excusing his behavior, but I would hazard to guess that almost any fisherman could be found guilty of what Arne was found guilty of (or anyone of us could be found guilty of something)...if someone was so consumed with hatred for them, if someone politically wanted to hurt him or his boss, "AND" was willing to waste 5+ years of their life pursuing it. However, the true "PATTERN" with Arne is friendship... He will have to pay for his transgressions, as we all will likely do one day. But in the end, he will still be my friend and be the friend of many among us... This next year will be tough for him and his family, but he has a chance to learn from his mistakes and come back stronger and better for this awakening... Dan Pryse, Joe Miller and others will likely continue in their ways, never know true friendship (or where to find it) and wither away in their own hatred as bitter old men... Steve

Steve, every member of the Kamilar
crew considered Arne to be a friend
and even family member for many many
years.

Your friend has betrayed the very
foundation of every thing his father
and his father before him dedicated their lives to.
It seems very out place for you to
to condemn the crew knowing they didn't lie about or falsify any evidence.
As far as wasting 5+ years,it appears
to have had the desired affect.

Arne Fuglvog had no friends on the Kamilar, after he lied and cheated the crew on settlements, for personel gain, after his father passed. He turned on the very people that were there to acquire the IFQ's for his father. If you think you can trust him as a friend, then let him access your bank account, anyone. No-one wasted 5yrs, he did the right thing. Many people don't want to spend the time to do the right thing. The Fred Hankins indictment, now sheds a new light on how vast and far reaching this case is. Falsifying federal documents, is a serious matter. But these people have become so arrogant, that they have openly said to NMFS agents, " the fish don't give a damn were the line is". Many have tried to defend the guilty, they are
guilty also. These people are repeat offenders at fisheries violations, and if allowed to continue to participate, will violate, falsify, lie, and cheat again.
