UFA still likes Murkowski

United Fishermen of Alaska, the state's top commercial fishing trade group, has again endorsed the re-election bid of Republican U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

UFA initially backed Murkowski prior to her primary loss to Joe Miller.

UFA endorsed Parnell yesterday

Wes. Call the office and find out some of the reasons why as UFA cannot issue a press release on statewide races. The press has to ask the ?'s

And who are the names for Commiss. and Commfish Director.

Rumor has it that Cora Crome is a leading contender for Commiss.

And while she hasn't worked at ADFG- ever-- she would be a fantastic pick.

Why can UFA endorse candidates, but can't issue press releases about its endorsement?

it's the archaeic apoc laws this state has.

a group can only send the endorsement announcement to it's dues paying members.

a PAC can announce, etc etc., but most fish folk in the state are too cheap to give pac money.

UFA typically raises around 40% of it's pac money from southeast and typically (in 2002-04-06-08) raises about 25% of the only other fish pac in the state SEASPAC.

so to add, the pac can but generally doesn't have enough money left over after contributions to even announce the organizations endorsements.
