All the hubbub over the still undecided Republican primary battle between Sen. Lisa Murkowski and challenger Joe Miller has overshadowed the winner among Democrats, Scott McAdams.
So who is Scott McAdams?
He's mayor of the City and Borough of Sitka. And not surprisingly for a coastal Alaskan, he's had a hand in commercial fishing.
From his website: "Scott spent his elementary years in Petersburg, and spent his young adult years working as a commercial fishing deckhand around the state. He credits these years as instilling an appreciation for hard work, as well as a deep admiration for Alaska's commercial fishing heritage."
I wonder which boats he has fished on? I've been at it over 40 years and haven't heard the likes of it until Scott wants some votes. He hasn't done us here in Sitka any favors as Mayor.. He would of never won a second term..
ReplyDeleteI have known Scott for many years and worked with him on several projects. Scott is an exceptional person, a wonderful school board member and eventually chair. He ran for the Sitka Mayor after a lot of encouragement, including mine, in part to manage the meetings in a timely and efficient manner. He has done a wonderful job as mayor and in my opinion, and I have been guessing mostly right on Sitka voting for many years, would have won re-election handily. I have been commercial fishing in Alaska for 60 plus years including quite a bit of time in fisheries politics. Scott McAdams would be a wonderful Senator for Alaska and a great representative of Alaska's fishermen. Eric Jordan
ReplyDeleteNot surprising coming from you Eric.. My observation is that the State Democratic party stepped on their crank with this guy... Heads should roll...
ReplyDeleteWhat's the problem with McAdams anon?
ReplyDeleteAnything definite or is he just not a wingnut like Miller?
Why should heads roll? Is he the recipient of some sweetheart land deal? Did his daddy get him the mayor job by bypassing the election?
Is he not a card carrying member of the Bobby T fan club?
Never met the man although he went to rae c stedman elementary with my brother
ReplyDeleteThat's in Petersburg
Bobbyt
The idea of balancing the budget in Sitka was through raising taxes.. now isn't that a challenge.
ReplyDeleteScott has fished with Ed Duncan on the Martina and Jim Miller on the Aleutian Spirit, both from Petersburg, AK.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if UFA will be able to figure out who to endorse?
