The Alaska Marine Science Symposium is going on all week at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage.
It's a massive showcase on dozens of research topics related to the Gulf of Alaska, the Bering Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
Here's a program. Warning: It's long and involved. But well worth scanning for items of interest.
One presentation I'm hoping to catch:
"Climate change and fisher behavior in the Bering Sea pollock fishery," by Alan Haynie, an economist with the National Marine Fisheries Service, 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
Just look who the sponsors are, and it's easy to determine what is transpiring, here. More smoke and mirrors by the big corps, and the influenced paper pushers, inventing science, to secure their government paychecks. What will they justify killing off next? How about IPQ's and ITQ's and IFQ's for solid start! Then maybe we, as citizens, labor force, and taxpayers can feel better about our fleeced pockets.
ReplyDeleteI second the above statement, the People should have access to OUR COMMON-OWNED PROPERTY. Twisted pscience is damaging to the Sustainability of OUR Greatest Food Supply. So is al burch (dragg king) hosting the Youth conference on Fishing. Dragging does NOT leave a Sustainable Enviroment remaining. It leaves a Trail of DEATH and DESTRUCTION!! It also leaves a trail of dirty blood money leading directly to to dirty perpetrators. See; http://tholepin.blogspot.com/ http://notrawlzone.blogspot.com/ http://angrycrabberscommittee.blogspot.com/
