Fishermen for Fuglvog

I've been casting around for a look at letters supporting Arne Fuglvog's bid to head up the National Marine Fisheries Service in the Obama administration (Deckboss, April 9).

Here's one from United Fishermen of Alaska.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be casting about for letters of recommendation for alternative B. In this case the "devil you know" is NOT the preferred alternative. Let's let the Secretary of Commerce know what Fuglvog has really excels at (eliminating jobs, destroying economies, etc.)

  2. It doesn't get any better than this.

When in the history of NMFS could there possibly be a better candidate for this job?

Arne has the background, the education, the fisheries knowledge and dedication to the resource.

And best of all, he has been a boots-on commercial fisherman for 30 years, fishing halibut and black cod in the gulf, tendering salmon and herring, and some occasional crab trips as well.

How could anyone be better not only for Alaska but for fishermen across the entire country?

This guy is for real. I know he's a bit young but he's darned near as old as President Obama. Heck, he'll be 46 this September.

    Go, Arne, Go

  3. Arne has proven in the past by his votes and input that he is a company man (the canneries)I WONDER IF THERE IS ANY WAY TO ESTIMATE THE TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN PROFITS HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAVE MADE THROUGH HIS ACTIONS.. HE IS A WHOLE NEW SPECIES OF BOTTOM FEEDER!!

  4. Sorry you will not get anything good coming out of me for Arne.
I have to agree with the 2 of 3 comments above.
Too many special deals and in bed with processors.
We DO NOT need that on the committee.

  5. On the Committee????

You knuckleheaded mornonic bafoons who are jabbing Fug are in for the surprise of your life for picking the alternative unless you are just a major member of the Recreational Fishing Alliance.

When was the last time an Alaskan was head of NMFS. This isn't a "committee" you loggerhead!!! This is the top job in Federal Fisheries in the United States.

To even be considered for this job is unfriggingbelievable for a 45 year old ex-commercial fisherman and top notch DC Alaskan Senate staffer for Senator Lisa Murkowski.

To even be considered puts him in a league of his own. "committee". Shows what your anonymous blunderheads have to say about such an important position to the state of Alaska.

After all, we catch 60% of all commfish in the US, probably about that much sportsfish as well and we've never, ever had a top guy at NMFS, except for Balsinger for a cup of coffee lately. And they let him go.

I didn't hear you knuckleheads commenting about Jim B. Did you like the job he did?

If you don't want Arne in there then who do you want? I'm betting you have no frigging idea of what you are talking about. This is a classic case of the "bucket of crabs" scenario that most often plays out in Kodiak but other Alaskans are just as stupid.

Yeah. Let's just ditch Arne and go with another sportsmonger and just plain close all of our federal fisheries. That'll show those darned processors.

And Wes. Don't censor me since I'm anonymous and those morons who posted the anti Fuglvog crap are anonymous as well so we're not blasting anyone now, are we. Just anonymous idiots who must hate commercial fishermen.

And since this is a commfish website, if you want to blast a blueblood, boots on, ex-commfish lifelong, 3rd generation Alaskan like Arne Fuglvog, be prepared to face the music, you chowderheaded imbecilles.
