Why wasn't the certification suspended until a new client is on board? Is MSC desperate or what? And who's preparing the nnual surveillance report as required by the certificate conditions???Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-42660994919090504442010-01-15T11:56:52.794-09:002010-01-15T11:56:52.794-09:00Take a look at; http://www.seacops.com/ to see pol...Take a look at; http://www.seacops.com/ to see pollack draggers in action.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-52667152185882801912010-01-15T11:15:44.847-09:002010-01-15T11:15:44.847-09:00Everyone should read the Fishery Enforcement Repor...Everyone should read the Fishery Enforcement Report on the Brig, mostly draggers and proccessors.ANGRYCRABBERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02264190427659800316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-58601790851801244642010-01-15T10:35:18.403-09:002010-01-15T10:35:18.403-09:00Pollack may be sustainable, but draggers are not. ...Pollack may be sustainable, but draggers are not. See http://tholepin.blogspot.com/ http://notrawlzone.blogspot.com/ http://www.akmarine.org/ http://angrycrabberscommittee.blogspot.com/ The Total Allowable Catch levels being set at maximum profit levels by the council members who own and lobby for these same drag fleets, has resulted in a biomass reduced from world-feeding numbers to the lowest existing stocks in thirty years. With a smaller, younger age class incapable of spawning and more vunerable to predation (being eaten). With profit incentives for "History" and Quoata they are encouraged to catch every last fish. So they hang their nets in a diamond V formation, as opposed to hanging it square with riblines and parallel with head/footropes. Then they tow harder, which pinches the webbing together so NOTHING escapes. Thereby disabling any escapement devices/mechanism B.S. they $ell the public. Diamond hung drag nets have been ILEGAL for a long time on the dragger-ruined East Coast. They catch more, smaller fish on purpose, and encourage its use for bait and fishmeal for farmed fish. I can go on and on... Not trying to burst anybodys profit bubble, but I feel we need to reconciliate into a CLEAN, SUSTAINABLY managed fishery of OUR/AMERICAN CITIZENS COMMON PROPERTY. Or we will be "HISTORY" like OUR Gulf Shrimp, Gulf King Crab, Scallops, JOBS, Dinner, etc., the list grows as we speak. In the "BE$T managed" fisheries??Have a Nice day!!
