It's only been in the last five years that the stakeholders have learned about Salmon ByCatch of the pollock fishery. They did not wish this problem upon themselves. CDQ 20 year review - 2012. But, he's very much a junior senator to the likes of Wahsington State's Patty Murray. She's become what Ted Stevens and Senator Magnuson used to be. If it gets to congress, Alaska is outgunned in this one. On the other hand, congress doesn't seem to be able to legislate itself out of a paper bag these days, so it might all amount to nothing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-71130947444214953092011-09-22T00:25:39.537-08:002011-09-22T00:25:39.537-08:00The Council already moves at a snails place, if yo...The Council already moves at a snails place, if you want better representation get rid of the Alaskan Commisioner of Fish and Game seat. The NPFMC, NOAA and the DOJ must require that the layshare contracts for Crab Ratz and all fisheries be turned over since they are all required by law to have a contract with every crewman. Plus the crewmen are not receiving fully reconcilable settlement sheets from the vessel owners which violates their legal rights to be paid correctly. And the IRS will need all the information to make sure everyone is paying their taxes corretly.

Sure we all know that CDQs discriminate against all active commercial fishermen, and other fishing communities in AK, WA, & OR! In fact, the CDQ groups have hijacked Bering Sea Crab & pollock rights using their non-profits status (with for profits companies and subsidiaries) to buy quota, vessels, and processing rights as a favor from Ted Stevens & Don Young in CG legislation years ago. And the Congress thought 8A no-bid contracts were a special deal for native organizations, now they have a group of Bering Sea villages taking over almost a majority of Bering Sea fisheries and leaving the active fishermen with sharecropper status.

Kris Poulsen has made millions from Crab Ratz, sold his boat to a CDQ group, made moneys from managing some of their rights. His son, Edward, is a little puke that has made one cod trip in is life and couldn't walk across the deck without hurting himself. And he states he the executive director of the Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers, and he's never seen a crab deck or ever prosecuted a BS crab fishery. Hey you little puke, I have 25 years fishing the Bering Sea for crab and would love for you to come on deck with me.

The rubbish about adding members from WA and OR will never fly, but the NPFMC has racketeered to give special rights to processor and the quota share holders while violating the National Standards of the MSA. It will all come out in the wash. Felonies have been committed and many people should go to jail and have their millions forfeited for stealing from the crewmen. As everyone knows not one quota would have ever been issues without the crews going to sea and risking their lives to bring the size & sex sorted crab to the dock to deliver alive.

Bottomline: The crewmen 1,000 crewmen that lost their jobs and the rest that stayed in the fishery need to be compensated for lost earnings and damages: $180 million compensation + $400 million in privileges/rights + hundreds in millions in damages.

Just wait until the DOJ comes in this time. The won't have Brendan Sullivan & Associates to sidetrack justice like Ted Stevens and Oliver North. Sorry the CIA can't fix this one!Yours truly!noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-18391394558639299762011-09-16T08:10:28.350-08:002011-09-16T08:10:28.350-08:00Begich says he’ll work to make sure idea “never se...Begich says he’ll work to make sure idea “never sees the light of day”Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-13020811023000379262011-09-15T13:38:48.060-08:002011-09-15T13:38:48.060-08:00The problem, as I see it, is that the federal fish...The problem, as I see it, is that the federal fisheries management/council system has become dysfunctional. A new system is overdue that might be more responsive to and flexible for all. I personally turned down a Council nomination because I could not see the present system worth the investment of my time. To me, the present system is co-opting at lot time and energy for almost all involved.
So, Oregon, think about a new system rather than reform to a crumbling one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9188370370448778552.post-33719572645870670252011-09-15T09:12:47.239-08:002011-09-15T09:12:47.239-08:00Why don't we just throw the foxes out of the h...Why don't we just throw the foxes out of the henhouse? The North Pacific Council is the only council with a majority of the seats controlled by one state. The Alaskan majority on the council has repeatedly gerrymandered the vote in favor of Alaskans to the detriment of other US citizens.
