More disaster relief

The feds today announced disaster determinations for two more Alaska fisheries — the 2023 Upper Cook Inlet eastside setnet salmon fishery and the 2022 Chignik salmon fishery.

A lot of good that does the fisherman. Here it is half of 2024 already gone and can't get anything from 2020. Pretty sad when it takes five or more years for the government to pay off any disaster funds. I'm wondering how long they think we live?

I'm still waiting on Gulf cod from 2020.

What is the background of the disaster funding? We are seeing more and more of these. Is the federal government now the guarantor for the fisheries?

You apparently are not a fisherman. But if you are a tree hugger or whatever else and had a disaster, I'm sure you'd be reaching out to the government.
