We've noted before the serious matter of short-tailed albatross bycatch in Alaska's longline fishery.
Now comes word that another endangered albatross has been taken, the third since August 2010.

Alaska commercial fishing news and notes

This is just another example of why the CDQ program is a failure!!!! In addition, if it wasn't for Senator Ted Stevens these endangered birds would be totally recovered and flourishing!!! And, and, and to solve this bigbird problem once and for all....... Washington and Oregon must hold the majority of seats on the NPFMC and Board of Fisheries. Only when one is intellectually honest with ones self can this truth be seen. You have to be a complete ignoramus to not understand that!!!!
Only you think that you're funny. Go hire a writer.
Oh, come on Tim. That was funny.
To the first blogger above. Your comment doesn't make any sense. Why do you think Alabotrosses have anything to do with the failure of the CDQ program?
Were you drunk when you wrote that or what?????
I read it a 'tongue in cheek' humor - sarcasm - sneering or cutting remark to the few misinformed bloggers that seek to find the CDQ program at fault for anything and everything in the fishing industry.
The comments were definitely not "tongue in cheek" they are the god's honest truth. Up here in the north, Norton Sound, we believe the CDQ program is solely responsible for global warming, they were probably the ones perched on that grassy knoll in Dallas, and when the truth comes out: are actually the ones collectively responsible for 9/11 in NYC. Isn't that glaringly obvious based on the facts presented in Deckboss blog discussing Albatross issues???
Sincerely,
TimFromUnk
I still don't get it? How can the CDQ program be responsible for global warming or any of those other things? I'm sorry but what you are trying to say/imply doesn't make any sense to me. Who is TimFromUnk???????
You gotta have a sense of humor and some blog history.
I just found this board and don't get the connection between the albatross and the CDQs and globel warming. I get the idea that it is some kind of a joke/riddle/puzzle, right? How does this TimFromUnk fit into the picture?????
Don't even worry about it first time reader, just don't even worry about it.
Why I wanted to chime in is because this really is an issue. All of us who longline know that bird buoys are kinda a joke, more of a way to announce 'breakfast is served' more than anything. We gotta do something, folks. I for one love seeing those big goofballs, and especially those short tails. What a real symbol of beauty......
Tim, we know you are in Nome, not from Unk. Nice try. Oh, and who is we?
I don't get what is going on here. I came upon this board because I like albatrosses and I am worried about them getting caught in commercial fishing gear. I'm sorry to be pushy but NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT ALBATROSSES!!!!!!!
What is the deal with this Tim and Unk???????? What is Unk??????? Who is Tim???????? Why is nobody hear talking about Albotross trouble in the Bering Sea??????????????
hahahaha! haven't had a laugh this good in a long time. if you've come to this blog to get thoughtful discussion on relevant issues, you've come to the wrong place newbie!!
Bird bags are not a dinner bell, used with leaded gear, it is almost 100% effective.
Blogger jokes...how boring
Wes; it is time to moderate the comments. It is hardly worth reading them anymore.
solve 95% of the BS problem on this blog and others by eliminating the option to post anonymously! I think we're all sick and tired of the petty name calling, untruths, incoherent and off topic rants that a handful of cowards spew under the cover of "anonymous."
I am as sick of the clowns that post stupidity here as the you are but I'm curious to know how you stop people from posting anonymously on an a blog?
